5Gerber is where it's at.Jan 22, 2010
When it comes to tools a man should have in his pocket, Gerber is where it is at. I currently have The Gerber Covert Folder, The Gerber Combat Folder (old style not having the safety lockout) and several Gerber Multi-Tools (currently have one on my belt and one attached to the front of my Body Armor; I also used to have The Mini Covert Folder (but someone helped themselves to it a few years back). I liked this one a lot because in the old Army uniforms it had a little area on the chest where we would hide our pens, well this knife clipped in there perfectly which made it very handy; sometimes a knife in your pocket or on your belt takes a while to get to, but one hidden under a flap in the middle of your chest is almost always easily accessible, even when you are half buried in the sand after climbing under a HMMWV and need to cut sage brush and 550 cord loose from a drive train or half shaft.

These knives are substantial, but not overly heavy. The grips are pretty nice, not likely to slip in your hand. I like them so much that when I saw the new ones with the green handles in another catalog, I went looking to see if I could get a better deal, these are fine knives.

When they come out of the package they are a little stiff and slow for opening, but if they weren't then they would probably fall apart in a year. Speaking of years, here is how long I have had some of these knives:
Gerber Covert Folder: 1 year
Gerber Combat Folder: 6 years
Gerber Multi-Tool: 6 years for my oldest one, nothing wrong with it, keep getting more as Employer issues them.

If you work in a manly man's job, or are an outdoors kind of guy on your time off, then you probably already have a pocket full of knives; as those wear out, I suggest replacing them with these Gerbers, starting with a Multi-Tool on your belt and one or two appropriate sized folders in your pockets.

It is a constant, the Afghans I work with are always trying to borrow my knives, they recognize the difference in what I have and what they can purchase locally.

3China? Gerber where is the Quality?Sep 30, 2009
Gerber please keep making great knives in the USA. America is smart. We do not want to give China our money or business. KEEP GERBER USA MADE. America Get smart.I listen to Michael Savage.

5Very Nice KnifeSep 07, 2008
Nicely made knife, that says quality from the Torx screws used to assemble it to the snick of the blade locking into place. Only one small nitpicking issue with a sharp edge on the thumb stud that should have been smoothed at the factory.

5Great knife!Feb 19, 2008
Really exceeds expectations. Well made but very light and beautifully balanced. Great clip, good one handed opening, etc. Very happy with this in all aspects.

5A great little knife for everyday use.May 09, 2005
Don't let the size of the Gerber Mini-Covert fool you or that it's blade is only 2.94" in length. Last fall, was driving my Mom's car on I-75, when the car's wheelwell liner came off. I didn't have a screwdriver in the car and had to use my Mini-Covert to cut off the liner hanging down. Was impressed with not only how sharp but how well the blade cut. One swipe with the knife and it cut it right off. Since than I carry it with me all the time. I like how it fits using the pocket clip in your pocket. You are not going to hit it and lose it when sitting down. Like I did with a Buck Odyssey. I use it whenever it's needed and really like it. I would recommend this knife to anyone, it's a great everyday knife. One any knife enthusiast should have in their collection.
