Great case but the Amazon stock is older modelAug 18, 2010 I purchased this to hold my photography gear. The case itself is fantastic and I would give it 5 Stars. The issue I have is with the padded dividers. First-of-all the photo of the divider is different from what you get but that is not my main concern: What bothers me is that there is absolutely NO/ZERO padding on the bottom of the dividers. Therefore, if you put your lenses on the dividers your lenses will hit directly against the bottom of the hard case wall. Considering most of my lenses are f/2.8 I was not willing to take this risk so I called Pelican and they had me take photos of the padded dividers and send it to them. The called me back within the same day and told me the padded dividers that I have are a very very old version they used to supply with the 1514 case. Thus, apparently the supply of 1514 cases that Amazon currently has are very old but other than the padded divider rest of the case appears to be identical to the current generation. I was going to return the case to Amazon but Pelican said they would send me a padded insert to place on the bottom of the case for free so I am keeping the case and will see if the insert Pelican sends me resolves the issue- if not, I will send this case back to Amazon and will purchase the case directly from Pelican so stay tuned.
IndispensibleJul 31, 2010 I purchased this case to tote my camera equipment around with me, and it has worked perfectly so far. I love that this thing is water proof... my dog peed on it the first day I had it. All I had to do was spray a little diluted bleach water on it, and everything was fine. It is supposed to fit well as a carry-on, and that is why I purchased this particular case, but I haven't had the chance to fly anywhere with it yet. It will fit a lot of stuff, and I love not having to worry about my camera equipment being "out in the elements" while out on photography shoots.
Yes, it is a bit heavy, but unless you want to transport your gear in styrofoam, that is more than likely something you will have to deal with for the protection this case offers. It also has wheels, so more often than not, you don't even have to carry it very far. I also like that you can lock it up with a small TSA lock, to keep prying, curious, grubby hands out (toddlers, thieves... and thieving toddlers).
I like to keep most of my equipment in this little beast, but I keep a smaller backpack for the times when I don't need to heft all my gear with me.
Bottom line: I can't believe they have this for such a great price (about $160). Great protection for expensive gear is priceless.

AWESOME case!Jun 28, 2010 I've had a few different Pelican products over the years, and this one has again gone above my expectations. This is a really tough case - water/dist resistant, VERY sturday and secure.
I got the foam divider for cameras and the lid dividers...they are great additions and let me carry 3 camera bodies, 7 lenses, 2 flashes and a variety of other filters, batteries, chargers and other camera items. AND it's small enough to be your carry-on, so no sweating the baggage handlers with your sensitive cameras!

Yes, it is a carry onJun 14, 2010 I just carried this case to Nicaragua to shoot a documentary. It carried my Canon 7D, 3 lenses, audio recorder, shoulder mount, batteries, and other extras very nicely. Nicaragua is hot, humid, dusty and this time of year, rainy. This case kept everything nice and safe. I was a little hesitant to carry it on because it seemed a little big but I had no problem and it fits in the overhead just fine. This is a great professional case.

WARNING: Case shown is not product you will receiveJun 14, 2010 Great case and that's why it pains me to write and post this review. However, the simple truth is that the organizer shown in the top lid is an extra. This case will arrive on your doorstep with the pick and pluck in the top lid. I am a longtime, loyal Amazon customer who is saddened by this deception. Note: if you read the description carefully, it does note the pick and pluck. But, as we photographers know, "a picture says a thousand words"...
